Re-Cupping The World Cup: The Machine Rips Through Portugal

We are going to do a short blog each weekday about the World Cup. There will be a little more on United States obviously, but when it comes to the other games, we will talk about the different games in short recaps like we used to do with the NBA. I am no expert, don't pretend to be, but I want to compile a blog featuring some tweets, GIFs, videos and a couple thoughts from yours truly. If you hate it, let me know or think you could do it better, you know where to find me @SnoTap12

Germany 4 Portugal 0 - What an opening statement for the Germans. One of the favorites of the tournament, and they made it known in the biggest way possible by wiping out Portugal. Thomas Muller started off the World Cup with a hat trick as well as drawing Pepe into a red card. Disastrous start for the Portuguese who had some questions going into the tournament like Cristiano Ronaldo's health are now dealing with other issues. One of their best defenders will miss a game against a fired up United States team plus they have a mountain to climb with negative four goal differential. Out of the favorites, Germany looked the best thus far which is about as close to a John Madden statement as I can make about Die Mannschaft.

Iran 0 Nigeria 0 - The first draw of the World Cup.  Not much happened in this game. It felt like with the United States being the headline act, they had a horrible opening act. You know the ones where people talk about how bad the opener is as one of the recaps of the concert?  They really only had three big opportunities with Nigeria's best chance being at the eighth minute mark of the game. Super Eagles banged on the door multiple times, but the Iranian defense stood tall. What this game told me is Bosina-Herzegovina is in the best position for the second spot even though they lack a point.
