Re-Cupping The World Cup: Argentina Advances in a Snoozer

We are going to do a short blog each weekday about the World Cup. There will be a little more on United States obviously, but when it comes to the other games, we will talk about the different games in short recaps like we used to do with the NBA. I am no expert, don't pretend to be, but I want to compile a blog featuring some tweets, GIFs, videos and a couple thoughts from yours truly. If you hate it, let me know or think you could do it better, you know where to find me @SnoTap12

Argentina 0 Netherlands 0 (Argentina wins 4-2) - This game was not the most exciting soccer match we have seen. Once again, Netherlands played 120 minutes to a 0-0 draw needing penalty kicks to decide the fate for the World Cup Final. Sergio Romero saved two penalty kicks which helped Argentina move on to their first final since 1990, and their first chance to win the World Cup since 1986. What's weird is all three times Argentina's national team has made it to the final, they have faced off against Germany. There is a slight rivalry there, and this will likely be deemed the rubber match as it is the third meeting between the two teams in a Final with both winning one.

I have a feeling we will not see a game like we did yesterday afternoon. Germany and Argentina both attack with decent defenses. I think Argentina has an advantage there because I am not sure if Argentina really has an answer for Lionel Messi. Ron Vlaar did a great job on Messi on Wednesday, the best of the tournament, but I wonder if you can really study what a team did like other sports. As for a prediction, I like Germany only because they are well-rested in a couple regards. They really only played a 40 minute game on Tuesday, and they had an extra day off plus they will have all of Brazil on their side.

Charlie.
